Should I assume it is fibromyalgia ?

After two years of extensive testing  for continuous odd body aches and pains in my neck, lower back, hips and the strangest numb, yet burning sensation in my buttocks, abnormal tingling sensations in my feet, exhaustion, sore jaw, a feeling of profound weakness in my upper arms, muscle spasms in my lower back and just plain old stiffness, I have received "normal" on all test results.  Tests included: Lyme, lupus, rheumatoid factor, MS, brain MRI's, pelvic CAT scan, SED rate, CBC, the whole nine yards in endocrine including 24 hour urine tests.  I think I've had it all.

PCP did the tender point exam, but everything hurts anyway, so I am not sure if it's tender points or not.

My very active life has changed immeasurably. Should I just assume it is fibromyalgia and run with it? (no pun intended).

Thanks for your note, but I have had the tests for rheumatoid factor and all is normal.  All
of this syndrome began AFTER the discovery of a life threatening tumor and subsequent (complicated and dangerous) surgery.  I have read that Fibro may begin after a trauma or serious illness.  I definitely qualify on both counts.

What do you think?

I would see a Rhuematologist; it is that field that Fibro is diagnosed through. What you describe could be Fibro, or a ton of other things as well. I would not assume anything at this point; assuming isn't going to help you to get a treatment plan started.

No, so far no diagnosis, but you seem to think it may be FMS.  Thanks for your response.

Did you actually receive a dx of fibro?  If so, that is probably correct.

Our Health Pages include some of the symptoms and treatments.  You could review this and see if it sounds like what you are experiencing.  From what you have described, and the testing you've had, it does sound like FMS.

Take care.
