Smoking and Fibromyalgia

Hi all;
   Well, I am patting myself on the shoulder as  well as I can. Last week I ordered the electric cigarettes off of the net and they came in today. I have `been a smoker since I was 12 years old. I have tried the patch, the gum, and was going to try Chantrix(sp) but I am taking too many script meds and it would be too dangerous. I tried to throw them down and cold turkey, but after 5 days my Dave told me to go and buy a pack of smokes and not to come home until I had my addiction satisfied.

   My Dave was really skeptical about these e cigarettes but agreed that anything was worth trying.  I smoked my last real cigarette at 9 this morning. I got my e smokes in and put the parts together, made sure the battery was charged and turned it on. I was floored!! This was like smoking a real cigarette, but no smoke, no stink, no coughing!! I've used it 3 times today and I have no craving for nicotine.

   I really feel that I will quit this time. I want to quit, I am tired of depending on them, tired of going outside to smoke in bad weather, and I am so ready to hear my grand-babies tell me that I smell good, instead of " Granny you smell like cigarettes. " Well no more!! I just had to share this with you all.

I saw a show on this just the other day.  It was endorsed or created by a celebrity but I can't remember who it was. If it's the same thing then it's just nicotine without all the additives that are in cigarettes.  So it would still cause all the problems that nicotine causes......vascular disease, heart disease etc.....It can't be healthy but possibly just less toxins than a real cigarette.  Best of luck in quitting!

You are more than welcome. So far I am doing real good. My doctor told me that I was ready to quit, because if not I wouldn't have gone into this. I told him that I was so tired of having them and using them as a crutch. I do know that I am so tired of tasting nicotine everyday, it's time to quit. Good luck to you also.

Thanks, I don't smoke many a day but to quit would probably be a good thing.  I talked to my psychologist today and he seems to think that stopping my cig habit would aggravate me right now or something like that he said.  It's just so much going on with me these days and I at this point upon speaking with him don't know if I really have a definitive diagnosis of FM/CFS.  Like I told him sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.  I have pain in all of the tender points that they touch to say whether you have FM or not but that's a bunch a **** to me right now.  I am going to check out the website and read up on it though.  Thanks again, and I hope and pray that you make it through.

Hi;
  Thanks for being concerned. I was also and I talked to both of my docs before starting. Both are in agreement that I ave to quit, and told me to keep in contact with them in case the vapor is too much. So far, I haven't had another real cigarette and I have only used the e cigarette 5 times. I don't feel ill nor do my lungs feel any different, so I am really hoping this is going to work. I'll keep you all in the loop while I do this. Thanks again Breeze.

Hi there -

I hope that this works for you.  I know it is so difficult to stop...I think the nicotine addiction is just as bad as any other drug (and worse because it is a legal substance).  I feel for you.

I checked this out and the only thing that concerns me is the component used to make the smoke vaporous.  I know it's the new, upcoming fad, but the article I read from CNN said that the maker failed to release it's health studies...which kinda makes me leery.  Although, the FDA has not yet made an official decision on this.

Please keep us updated and let us know how it goes for you.  I know there are many others out there who are trying to 'give it up' as well.

hugs,
Breeze

Hi Deloris;
  I found the kit that I ordered from

w w w     njoycigarettes  (.)   c o m

They have different price kits, I bought the 79.95 kit.

So far this morning, I still have not craved a real cigarette. And there hasn't been any food craving. If this works and I believe it's going to I will gladly tell everyone I know about it. Give it a try.
