To all of my old friends and hope some new ones,,,,,

Hi to my old friends and to my new ones, too.  I have now been diagnosised by two doctors as having fibro.  My lyrica and nueronton day are long gone.  But I now take 600mg of Ultram daily for the pain.  I works sometimes and not so other times.  I'm just getting over pneumonia and inflammation of both knees.  But my biggest problem is that I just go fired from my job ( which I have been at for  nearly two years).  He attempted to "let me go" thru my husband.  So the story he gave me and the one he gave hubby are completely different.  He told my husband that I couldn't concentrate, was forgetful, forgot how to spell and several other things that mean absolutly nothing to me.  What kind of man fires a woman thru her husband.  I have a heart condition also, did he think I was going to stroke out on him? This doesn't help my pain level at all, or my self-esteem.  Any words of wisdom out there...........?

Thanks for the welcome.  I have been out of work for almost 13 months and the disability is for life.  My fibro is not getting better. I'll go to the site that you listed and see what they can do for me.
Thanks again!

Welcome back!!!

If you have been out of work for 5 mos. and your disability is expected to last a year or more, you can apply for Soc. Security.  We have added this info. to our Health Pages in order to assist members with the process.

http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Fibromyalgia/Disability-Resources/show/560?cid=39

At the bottom of this link page you will see "Applying for Soc. Sec. Online."  This is something you can begin now as you can save where you left off and complete it another time.  This is how I did my filing and I allowed Soc. Sec. to gain my complete medical records themselves and make their decision.  They will contact you by phone once everything has been received and do a short interview with you.  They may request that you see their physicians if they deem necessary or bring it before a review board.  This is all part of their process.

Hope this helps and good luck.  If you don't intend to return to work any time soon, the time to file is now.

Take care.

I apologize for not being on medhelp for a long, long time.  I always felt so much better venting with you all.  I'll be real honest, I don't know why I stopped.  Now that is sad.  I guess that there was and is so much going on that I just blanked it out.  I'm still not working and money is getting tight.  My whole family is telling my to apply for my disabiltiy but I don't know what to do or where to start.  I need to go back to my rheumy and my GP. I've just been getting refills on the meds.  I'm just lost right now.  I have a July appointment with a counselor (different name for a shrink I guess).  My daughter went to her for while until her medicare-medicaid stopped paying for it.  She got her disability within three months of applying and never went anywhere.  She did all of her interviews on the phone.  She is also bi-polar.  Maybe that thought that type of application was best done on the phone.  Thanks for all of your support and I hope to be back soon abd thanks for all of the hugs over the last year......Grannytaz (Judi)

Thanks for the support.  It seems like forever since I've written in this forum.  I guess that's what a lot of work and illness got me.  I'd rather have you all as my friends.  It sure shows that some people  really don't get it that fibro is real.  I am beginning to have to think before I attempt to spell a word or search hard to remember what words to use in a sentence.  I guess I learn to live with it.  Soft hugs to you both....Judi

Welcome to our little world, not that you want to be here! I'm not sure it is legal to fire someone thru their husband. I would definetly go see you boss, and get him to put it in writing. moesqueen is right, try not to stress out about it, it makes you hurt worse.  Call your labor relations board and see what you options are. You may need to file for disability. Thankfully Spring and summer are coming (someday) and warm weather always helps me a lot. Stay with us, and keep us updated on this job situatin. Use us to vent!  soft hugs....Maggie

well i'm glad you got the dx finally!
that helps put a name to the real pain...

losing a job is not ease, especially these days. (i know i've been in those shoes)
however, your boss (who is not a man) / hr dir. needs to fire you directly!
get it in writting, the reason why you where let go, everything he told your husband and you. this can really help you if you decide to file for disability, etc.,
(check with the EEOC and policy to shed some light if you have questions)

it seems like your husband is right there with you, go communicate, cry, do what you have to. release the stress it only makes the muscles tighter! and starts all hell to break loose.
you guys make a plan, right it out if needed.
see how long you all can servive without your income...
communicate!
communicate!
communicate!

and make yourself relax!!!
it's okay that your home right now, enjoy the time wisely.
go bake a cake if you can, make a home cooked meal!
watch an old blk & wht movie < that's my favorite LOL

jlc, it's okay to be right here, right where you are...

soft huggs ((((()))))
