What meds/supplements do you use to help you sleep? Sometimes I literally don't sleep at all.

I usually have to take a narcotic along with a muscle relaxer so I can sleep as the muscle pain and headaches I get prevent me from sleeping a lot.  If my muscles are not aching so much I will take Benadryl or Unisom.  But lately that hasn't been helping.

After years of not falling asleep easily and not getting to dream sleep I tried taking red meat out of my diet about 2 years ago and this worked beautifully. Also only get up once a night to go after being asleep for 4 to 5 hours. Every time i eat red meat I have trouble falling asleep.

I've always been sensitive to sleeping medications, so I just use Gravol (it goes by other names outside of North America...the active ingredient is dimenhydrinate).  It's related to Benadryl (aka diphenhydramine), but not as potent.  I find it makes me plenty sleepy, but without the weird negative feeling I get from the stronger form.

That said, it sounds like if you're having a lot of difficulty, Gravol wouldn't be your first choice.  But as I've discovered over the years, what affects one person strongly will hardly affect another at all and vice versa, to it may be worth a try, just to see if it helps you at all.

I'm the same way...I've tried almost every OTC med for sleep but I haven't tried the Advil ones....I did recently try Ambien CR and I felt good only got up once to go to the bathroom. If you find out something that helps you sleep plus no bathroom runs PLEASE LET ME KNOW.....

.Hi;
   My doctor gave me Restoril but the Advil night time gel caps are so much better. I wake up without having a headache and I sleep pretty good all night, except for bathroom runs, but I do go right back to sleep.

gentle hugs
