What tests @ the Rheumatologist?

Hi all :)

Since being diagnosed with fibro, and all of the issues I have, along with my family history, I have made an appointment with a Rhuemy to rule out Rheumatoid athritis and auto-immune diseases tht could be causing some of my pain and or other symptoms.

I want to know what tests I should be asking for when I get in there so we don't miss anything. But I don't really know anything about auto-immune or the common or important tests.

Does anyone have advice or experience with this?

The ANA test is a standard test that the Rheumy will perform during the evaluation.

I wouldn't mention the Fibro! If they hear that they just put you on meds like amytriptiline (sp) and don't really bother being as thorough as they should. I know from experience. Have you had any kinds of testing done for allergies. Especially an IgE. High histamine can cause a ton of pain in the muscles/joints and various autoimmune disorders. Was why I was diagnosed with Fibro but it wasn't Fibro, I am severely allergic to my hormones, chemicals, medications, dyes, some foods/drinks. It can be allergies to anything!!! The best test for autoimmunity is an ANA test. I got rid of my so-called fibro by doing a colon cleanse and detox. Even got rid of joint swelling.  I use Food Grade Organic Diatomaceous Earth daily to help keep toxins down. Works wonders!!! Definitely get your test results and review them for yourself. I don't know how many times docs have lied to me about labs, ct scans, etc. Would've gotten years of my life back if I had known then what I know now.

Hello,
When you see your new Rheumy, make sure you mention your family history of RA and your concerns. The Rhuematologists are usually very thorough at the first visit. You may not even want to focus your conversations very heavily on the Fibro- just the fact that you are concerned about your pain and your family history. They will run a battery of blood tests, SED rate, RA factor and some others. If you have an opportunity make sure you get a copy of the results and bring them here to discuss. Good luck.
