cholestrol , statins , and armour

Hi , I'm type two hashi , the synthroid didn't work on me so am on armour now. I had high cholestrol for years and have been on all the statins which also didn't work , why I wonder.  though intolerant to them , I took them , all they did for me was wither away my forearms ,I couldn't pick a magazine up without bad pain. Binned them   Bit of weight lifting , my arms are ok now. My First question is does armour have direct effect on cholestrol. or does armour make liver work. Thankyou

Hey ourmarnie!

This gets better!!
There is the Mozaffarian Group’s Study published in the  American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2004 showing that as the intake of saturated fat increased in post-menopausal women, the progression of atherosclerosis actually reversed!

Diet and 20-year Mortality in Two Rural Population Groups of Middle-Aged Men in Italy.
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 1989.
Men who died of CHD ate significantly less saturated fat than men who didn't!

From the Harvard School of Public Health"The Nutrition Source"
"Fats and Cholesterol: Out with the Bad, In with the Good"

                      Excerpt
More recently, several studies seemed to suggest that eating diets high in saturated fat did not raise the risk of heart disease—a finding that ran counter to decades of dietary advice. (21,22) One highly-publicized report analyzed the findings of 21 studies that followed 350,000 people for up to 23 years. Investigators looked at the relationship between saturated fat intake and coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Their controversial conclusion: “There is insufficient evidence from prospective epidemiologic studies to conclude that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD, stroke, or CVD.

I would suggest that instead, you look deeper into  carb intake and CVD/CHD, as carbs promote increased "small particle" LDL, associated with atherosclerosis.
Also look into the pro-inflammatory processes of cooking vegetable and seed oils as well as omega-6s in regards to their role in endothelial damage.
I use extra virgin coconut oil exclusively for cooking, as it does not alter
with heat. Also look into the cardio-protective properties of Magnesium,
a vital mineral N.Americans are deficient in. (It must be similar in the UK)
It's involved in over 300 processes including:

muscle and nerve function
heart rhythm
immune system function
blood sugar level regulation
blood pressure
energy metabolism
protein synthesis
bone health.

I do Transdermal Magnesium Oil treatments-best way to supplement.

From the Vitamin D council:

There are published studies of vitamin D levels and the risk of cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D levels greater than 30–40 ng/mL (75–100 nmol/L) may lower atherosclerosis risk. If this disorder reaches advanced stages, a physician should be consulted.

How vitamin D works
Vitamin D may reduce atherosclerosis in several ways:

Reduces inflammation: Vitamin D shifts cytokine (protein) production away from inflammation. Internal swelling causes plaque lesions to develop.
Reduces matrix metalloproteinases: These enzymes damage blood vessel tissues.
Controls gene expression: Vitamin D activates vitamin D receptors to help turn genes on or off. This may lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and vessel hardening.
Prevention
From studies, it appears that high vitamin D levels lower cardiovascular disease. Higher vitamin D levels may also significantly reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. According to a review of several observational studies, vitamin D levels of 30-40 ng/mL (75–100 nmol/L) may lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by 25% compared to levels below 10 ng/mL (25 nmol/L). Thus, to reduce atherosclerosis risk, it may be beneficial to keep vitamin D levels above 30–40 ng/mL (75–100 nmol/L).

Statins, hmm-sorry doc- don't seem to cut it. The most controversial class of drugs that have a minus effectiveness, overall. There's not a shred of evidence in TRUE cellular medicine studies, that  cholesterol lowering statin therapy is associated with lower cardiovascular disease/heart attacks.
Statin use is associated with a 52 percent INCREASED prevalence ... !!!
                                             Dr. Mercola's website
The most serious side effect of statins is the reduction of Co-Enzyme Q10
produced in the liver, a MAJOR factor in the production of vital cardiovascular energy and  thus, leading to cardio-myopathy!!.Vytorin Lawsuits

To date, Merck and Schering-Plough have agreed to pay at least $41.5 million to settle lawsuits over Vytorin and Zetia, which accuse the companies of intentionally delaying the release of the ENHANCE study. Class action lawsuits have been filed against the manufacturers, claiming they violated consumer protection laws by covering up the results of a negative study. The proposed $41.5 million settlement will resolve nearly 150 cases pending in a New Jersey federal court. The settlement follows a $5.4 million settlement that Merck and Schering-Plough reached earlier with various state attorney generals that made similar claims.
The Schmidt Law Firm website

Profits from statin sales are far exceeding the settlements up to now, so unfortunately, Big Pharma still has a run of another possible 10 years in this sector.

Please check all this out for yourself.

Hope this helps!
Cheers!

Thanks for the hug and the kiss on the forehead.
Next time , can I get the kiss on the cheek instead?
I'm not much of a beer drinker, only in Mexico.lol!
Up to 10 cervezas a day (really?), and didn't even get a buzz.
Must be they're scared of the federalies-it's federal law to brew beer over
long time without chemicals in mexico.
No cheating, cerveza is serious biz there.
In your case, you may be suffering the effects of a yeast imbalance/overgrowth (candida) that amplifies the effect of the alcohol and it goes straight to the head. You can do a simple saliva test that would be indicative of this.
Look it up on YouTube.

Here's my professional explanation:
Look into this nasty trio combo:
Candida, Hypoglycemia and HypoThyroidism.

Candida has many faces and many mechanisms and it can outsmart
many of the body's functions. It can cause Hypoglycemic symptoms
by feeding on your glucose or just present Hypoglycemic-like symptoms
in order to elicit a higher carb supply or interfere in carb processing.
It can disrupt adrenals, thyroid function and glucose metabolism.
Nothing to do with age.

There are other possibilities, but I favor this one.

I could have been a doctor. Chose not to.

Myxedema is just what you said. Do a search for "myxedema images"

More Hugs!

Glad you took the time to read it sweetie.
Yeah, I know. Big words & stuff.

Isn't it funny your name sounds like armour.  Hi dr. Thanks very much for your reply. You say that side effects of armour is hair loss , iv been on armour for five weeks and amidst my stragly lifeless hair is a head like a tennis ball , so in my case that's not true. I had all the side effects of armour you mention before taking it. I had to laugh when I looked up myositis you  mentioned and i thought back to several years ago when I went for steroid injection off local Gp.  me in room with my chap and doctor plus young girl trainee , I was shaking and couldn't look at the needle that was about to be stuck in my boney ellbow somwhere. In the end the doctor said he wasn't confident enough to do it. God bless him he was sweating. So after waiting two weeks for that app , twas a flop. I stopped taking statins and havnt looked back pain wise. I told my new doc about my dilema. I asked , and he said if he were me hed rather have statins and pain than wait for a heart attack. That's when I decided to get an endo for armour. In five weeks on armour my actual head has gone smaller , and everywhere else. Synthroid dont work on me , armour does. When I mentioned thyroid to one doc years ago she said “ooh , I must read up on that ” my new doc wrote me a refferal letter to endo doc on the spot cuz I asked , I don't think he knows the controvecy about armour and iv got to go back to get him to give me armour on NHS. Is he gunna deny me after writing to endo. I'm actually skared to go. Sorry bout spelling mistakes really.   I'm still none the wiser doctor. But thanks for your time.

Hello,
The common side effect of armour is hair loss which can be temporary. High doses can result in increased sweating, sensitivity to heat, mental/mood changes, tiredness, headaches and shortness of breath etc.The common side effects of statins are muscle aches, tenderness, or weakness etc.The serious side effects are myositis, rhabdomyolysis. It is best to discuss your concerns with your treating doctor. A complete evaluation will be helpful. Do keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
