Yes, I get unbearable pain, mostly in my lower back, that makes me want to spend the day in bed crying my eyes out. Since I was just diagnosed in July, the doctors have started me on the small stuff (Cymbalta, Lyrica, etc.) and I haven't reached the narcotics point yet (although I desperately need the strong stuff). I was prescribed Darvocet but it does nothing for my pain. Skelaxin does nothing either. I was just started on Lyrica and have noticed a slight decrease in pain but I still have flares that are unbearable. I wish I could offer you suggestions but so far, I'm in the same boat as you.
I have been diagnosed with fibro for 9+yrs now. These flare-ups can be unbearable and the length of them is undetermined. Sometimes, nothing helps me. Like luckydzack1 said, strong doses sometimes only make it bearable. I don't know what causes it or why sometimes meds help and sometimes they don't. That is part of the mystery of this monster called fibro (among many other mysteries). I just pray you have an understanding doc who is willing to help you. Let us know how you are doing and best of luck!
I had excrutiating pain in Jan. to March from FM. It was shooting up my spine, into my butt cheeks & down my legs. The only thing that helped & I mean just making the pain barable not taking it away was either 2 percecets or 90 mg. morphine per day. Like I said it just made the pain more barable. Plus the doc put me off of work which also helped as I could rest as much as I needed. The pain was like a electrical shock just running through my body none stop. I have never experienced anything like it before.
