correlation between age and fibromyalgia

Hello,
I was wondering what the typical symptoms/ triggers would be for possible fibromyalgia. After lifting a water jug for the bubbler @ work I experienced a shooting pain in the left side of my neck. Since this event I have been experiencing constant spasm in my neck/trapezius for approx 7 months w/o any relief in symptoms. X-ray revealed nothing, and I have been through chiropractic and physical therapy with marginal relief at best ( ~ 24 hours.) medications used include metaxalone, valium and ibuprofen. stiffness has remained constant, w/ a reduced ROM when flexing my neck laterally. I also occasionally experience shooting pain up the left side of my neck when i rotate my head in that direction. Neck remains inflamed and "cracks" often. only other pain has been in my right elbow and stiffness radiates to rhomboids.
Due for an MRI in two days to rule out herniation, etc.
any input would be greatly appreciated.

Your symptoms do not sound like fibro.  I had a herniated disk in my neck which caused those type of symptoms.  The MRI may give you some answers.

This doesn't sound like Fibromyalgia at all. I could be wrong, but I don't think most people would say that they have shooting pains. Fibro is a lingering, severe, aching type of pain that lasts. If a person, for instance, comes up to you and grabs your upper arms and squeezes them, not only would that cause you pain, but that pain could last for several minutes after they let go of your arms. The researchers do know that people who have Fibro, do not hit the level of sleep that is needed for the muscles to repair themselves; it is during sleep that that process takes place. This is a chronic problem that people say gets worse over time, it certainly has in me. Have the MRI done; this sounds like you have done something to yourself to cause an injury.
