I have just started on Lycria for fibromyalgia even thought my doctor is still not sure that is what I have.  My back neck arms legs and feet hurt all the time.  There is tingling pain and sometimes I yell out in pain because it feels like an electric shock has just went through me.  I wake up really stiff and hurting. I have to take as sleeping pill at night and my husband says i cry out in my sleep all the time.  Anyone have an opinion?

Hi - Did you see my answer to your questions in the other posts?  888mom it was in Chri's thread and Brandy it was in Optimistic's thread.  After all that typing, I like to at least know they got seen!!

Saw your other postings too...  But, I have pain in my breasts, and only one doctor has admitted it could be a fibro symptom.  Luckily that is my current doctor, so I'm keeping her. Breasts are part of our connective tissues... so it would make sense pain could occur there.  I thought for awhile that it might be breast cancer.  It's not.

Pain can be caused by lots of stuff.  I was told by my current doctor that fibromyalgia is a diganosis when other autoimmune diseases are ruled out or that it can also co-occur with other autoimmune diseases. My doctors thought I had lupus for many years (I may still have it but lack the skin rashes typical in 90% of lupus patients) but have found that I respond better to fibromyalgia treatments so my doctor corrected the original diagnosis and changed it to fibromyalgia.  She thinks I might have both in combination due to kidney involvement but is not sure.  I like the drug Lyrica she put me on.  It's a fibro drug.  Fibromyalgia usually is debilitating fatigue and pain either in muscles and/or joints. I think it can also be pain in tissues, though not sure if that is official.  It also can have other symptoms.  Problem with fibro, is that a lot of the symptoms overlap with other autoimmune diseases so doctors have to be sure to rule out other diseases before diagnosis fibromyalgia.  My aunt thought for years she had fibromyalgia.  Turned out she had Parkinsons though am a little confused why her doctors would misdiagnose that as fibromyalgia.  Sometimes MS or lupus symptoms can overlap with fibro symptoms.  Lot of overlapping with other diseases, totally needing a doctor to figure out.  Getting a diagnosis is hard with doctors, especially when they hate to admit that they don't know.  And I think doctors, at least in my experience and opinion, get tired of dealing with the same issues that they just can't figure out.  Some doctors just want to say it's all in your head if your symptoms don't fit a disease perfectly on their little charts.  Finding a good doctor, really important.

Dealing with pain is important.  Pain and fatigue can be debilitating, and cause you to be unable to hold down a full time job, not be able to participate fully in family life, among other things.  Depression is also an issue with all these chronic conditions because it is emotional to not be able to do things.  It sucks to be in pain every day.  Who wouldn't feel depressed?

So, web sites I have looked at:
http://www.fmaware.org/
http://www.nfra.net/

Or google fibromyalgia and see what else comes up.  Just don't let these doctors say the pain and fatigue is all in your head.  Find a different doctor if they tell you that.  I've had to dump a couple doctors in the past because of that.  Pain is legitimate.  Fatigue is legitimate.
