I am sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to consult with a friend of mine who has a lot of experience with methadone. The nausea and depression your feeling is normal. It will go away after a couple of weeks. The headache may have something to do with the transition from the one med to the other and because the dosages may not be equal. After your body adjusts to the methadone your doctor should manipulate the dosing to get you to the proper pain relieving amounts.

How many milligrams of Methadone did your doctor start you on? And how much MS Contin were you taking? Methadone can be very effective for chronic pain, so hang in there. One of the positive aspects of the drug is it is a long acting, 24 hour medication. It doesn't agree with everyone, but it does help a lot of people. Let me know your thoughts when you get a chance. Thanks.

please can someone take their time to comment on my above question.  I'm now on the 4th day of methadone and I hate it.  I't still in pain, I feel nauseated, have a headache, and feel very depressed and unmotivated.  I told my my doc I wasn't liking the methadone yesterday and he said try a couple more days, but I just feel worse today and the weekend is coming up and  he will not be in the office.  Please advise
