Advise for Morton's Neuromas :c

(Female 46 yr) My podiatrist examined the Morton's Neuromas on both of my feet about year ago. He made my orthotics and I wear ShockDoctor orthotics in some of my other shoes.  At one time, I had several knee and tibia  "injuries" that were biomechanical in nature from overtraining on the stairmaster and the occasional use/misuse of sports performance  & pain meds (no longer use).  Thanks to stengthening my knees, hams and glutes knee & ankles an Xray and exam showed I have no tissue muscle or joint damage in ankles & knees.

Most of the treatment(s) for neuromas is elective, costly &/or impractical. I no longer wear heels over an inch, I wear wear ball-of-toe foot cushions in some shoes and I buy athletic shoes w/room in the toebox

The neuromas are NEVER going to go away. I'm guessing you know that people who have neuromas will take any shortcut to alleviate the pain,,,So I use SNAP-8 solution (topical, inhibits SNARE complex etc..) + an Ibuprofen 5% topical gel which *completly* numbs the neuroma area otherwise 1/2 way into workout the neuroma area hurts.
(1) I figure this is dangerous and counterproductive in the longrun, but how much?

Athletic footware measures @ 8 1/2 but hurts 1/2 way in workout. I know feet expand somewhat & I sweat A LOT during workout and I alternate shoes. I know what the wrong shoe can do even if it feels right.
(2) Should I try a wider shoe just to see?. , given my condition is it worth a try?

(3) I never go barefoot but have started to: How harmful is walking around the house barefoot & wearing thongs?

I have not been able to workout very well due to medication I am taking for HCV (click on my user ID if you are curious). I see muscle wasting, I am unhappy, sluggish and gaining weight (can easily eating habits) I am going to attempt consistent cardio and walking and hope the neuromas not be a bother in the shortrun.

Please advise~Thanks!

If you have tried everything and the neuroma continues to bother you, have them surgically removed.  People tend to do well from this procedure.

Clarificaton: I have been wearing the orthotics for about 12 years.
