ACID REFLUX/INDIGESTION PANIC ATTACKS!!

For the last 6 months I have suffered with ACID REFLUX/INDIGESTION and so PANIC ATTACKS came with them, I have been worried about my health. At the times when I have these feelings of INDIGESTION I have PAINS IN MY ARMS which then further the PANIC as ARM PAIN is connected to HEART ATTACKS! I have been tested and such multiple times but its always been at a time when the worrying feelings have passed. What I'm looking for is a VERY and I mean VERY DETAILED explanation of what INDIGESTION is. I am like everyone else and I have Googled Indigestion and got very kick and simple explanations and I want a FULL EXPLANATION and can't find it because I don't know what I'm looking for, Google links me to sights similar to this where people ask for opinions, I want details, please help, I have suffered for long enough, I want my life back.

One thing that has been constant throughout my time in dealing with Indigestion is that I have arm pain when my indigestion is at its worst. I will have a sensation in my chest caused by the indigestion but I will also have pains in my arms, often in my forearm or bicep, what is the connection between indigestion and pain in arms?? This is often the reason I have panic attacks in the first place for fear of a heart attack (the shooting pain up the arm before a heart attack) And find it hard to relax when I have pain in my arms.

Hi,
If you dont find relief with medications then you can ask for other tests.

Just to give extra information, I'm 20 years old, 6'4, overweight, casually active. casual drinker (can go overboard for an occasion i.e wedding, birthday party etc), dont smoke, dont take drugs

This really all started approximately 13 months ago when i had a pain in my left arm and in my chest, went to the doctor and was told it was acid reflux and then given medication, after a couple of months it passed but it came back shortly after Christmas, I have suffered with this on and off for about a year but it has only been a real problem in the last 6 months. I have seen my GP countless times and even all the other doctors at the Practice as well as hospital visits when I feared for my life simply to be told, "Have some Gaviscon!"

I have come to these forums often and see Professionals suggest certain ways to find out the cause and such yet I think, if I suggest that to my Doctor she will dismiss it because the British NHS is all based on money, if you need an expensive procedure, or ay procedure for that matter then they will leave that as a last resort before doing anything which i find unacceptable. I have been told that many tests that I should have had done were unnecessary and my lack of faith in the NHS is very high. having suffered for so long, should I pursue my GP in having further tests rather than continuing to use Gaviscon??

Hi FozzyRock,
The term indigestion is used to denote  various symptoms by different people. They use this term to indicate symptoms like bloating, nausea, vomiting, heart burn and abdominal pain/discomfort. It is more technically called as dyspepsia.

The term dyspepsia is used to indicate upper gastrointestinal symptoms. Dyspepsia is due to a wide variety of reasons. An upper GI endoscopy, 24 hours pH monitoring and ultrasound scan of the abdomen may provide some clue regarding the cause. If no lesion is found by these tests, then it is called functional dyspepsia.

In acid reflux which is one of the causes of indigestion, the acid content of the stomach ascends up in to the food pipe which generally does not occur and it causes symptoms like heartburn, chest discomfort etc.24 hours pH monitoring will help to diagnose this condition.PPI provides symptomatic relief.
