Acid reflux/heartburn and watery stool

For the past 3 or 4 months, I have been having heartburn maybe once a month or so which lasts about 3 days then it would go away. I also noticed that every time I have heartburn, it accompanies watery stools/diarrhea. I never had this problem before. I just realized that maybe the acid reflux is caused by stress which began the same time during a difficult period in my life. I am just not sure if these are two separate issues and just coincidentally occur at the same time or if one problem causes the other one to occur. There are no other symptoms besides reflux symptoms (feeling of wanting to vomit, bitter taste in the mouth, worse heartburn when lying down). No bloody stools, no abdominal pain, watery stools (very watery like peeing) up to 3X/day. I would appreciate any advice.

Gallstones. You sound like you are experiencing the early signs of Gallstones. Have your doctor check your Gallbladder. You may need to have it removed. It's an easy surgery but you may experience some digestive issues with certain foods after it is removed especially fatty foods. some people have issues with onions and such but it is so much better than acid reflux and the nausea that comes with gallstones. good luck

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

AS I was reading this my first thoughts were stress....and that can cause IBS, u can get constipated and with bloating develop reflux, then u get the runs and feel a bit better...and it can be a cycle....

U will want to try and relax  try meditation....also modify ur diet and lifestyle...(see the Health Pages for tips on foods that are safe and foods to avoid. To help at night, elevate the head of ur bed, this will use gravity to keep the acids down where they belong....

Do talk to ur Dr about this as u will want to make sure u do not dehydrate and nothing else is going on.
