Acid reflux treatment

Hi,

After eating quite badly for the last 6 months or so (much more fatty foods and late night meals etc.) I have developed burning in my stomach and chest which didn't go away by itself. Now, the GP didn't do any GI tract or endoscopy checks or anything (i'm 25, otherwise very healthy) so he gave me 4 weeks of proton pump inhibitors. After 2 weeks of healthy diet (no alcohol, little meat, no coffee, no late night meals, lots of vegetables, daily yogurts and probiotics, drinking 1 or 2 daily herbal tea's such as licorice teas, and lots of water) I went to the ENT for swollen tonsils/throat, acid reflux was also the cause, so the ENT gave me an extra 8 weeks prescription of the PPI's for throat and stomach alltogether to really get rid of both problems.

Now, my question is that I am 2 weeks down the line on that treatment and the reflux to my throat seems to indeed have greatly decreased, but I now seem to progressively get more often a slight discomfort or burning sensation in my stomach (not sharp or heavy pain but annoying), noticing it comes from my stomach/abdomen when I press on the right spot I feel it, also sometimes bloating sounds coming from stomach. My gp thinks it's not an ulcer because i have been checked for H. Pylori (which apparently causes 80% of them) so I should continue for 8 weeks. But then I'm thinking i am on a very healthy diet (requiring conscious effort) during the past 3 weeks already together with taking the ppi's, why am I still feeling an annoying burning sensation, and more importantly will my LES actually repair itself after 8 weeks of continuing like this if it's still affecting my stomach. I don't know what else could be the problem but any help or thoughts would be appreciated and put me at ease the coming weeks.

Hi,
It need not be an ulcer. It could be even just inflammation.

I understand, but what could be an expected the result? A stomach ulcer? That's all I could think of. And is this burning sensation maybe just part of the treatment, that is my stomach healing itself?

Hi,
Upper GI endoscopy might be useful to know the cause of the burning sensation in your stomach.
