I am having a pain in the left side under the breast(breastbone)? Its hard to explain where.. but its sharp, and when I touch the area its sore to the touch just not sure if thats where this pain is.? but It also is aggravated with eating! I read where costochondritis can be aggravated with eating.. but also got pain in the middle of my chest where the esphagus is too.. had all the heart stuff done, xrays of the stomach and colon.. bloodwork.. is this the kind of pain you got?
Sharp chest pains are seldom cardiac in nature, as research tells us and personal experience with a lot of Cardiac Artery Disease tells me. Cardiac-related issues generally involves a heavy pressure or gripping sensation, often accompanied by breathlessness, anxiety and exhaustion. That said, EKG's are basically used to diagnose an active heart attack or irregular heart beats, but aren't the gold standard to diagnose valve or CAD issues.
I know from experience the Vagus Nerve can cause sharp pains in the regions you describe. Years ago my daughter took what was thought a minor fall and about six hours later had sharp neck, chest and shoulder blade pains, and it was determined she had a ruptured spleen and the bleeding was stimulating the Vagus Nerve.
Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.
As Dave mentioned since u had the EKG u ruled that out....and u say u feel bloated all the time...I would look at the Gall Bladder and how u eliminate waste...do u have IBS like issues that could be causing this...so many do not realize how often they should eliminate and the consistency...
Our digestive track can have an imbalance from our diet, stress, even other meds we r on....talk to ur Dr ask about probiotics and checking on ur motility to see if u have an issue there....
In the mean time still try to avoid food triggers and lifestyle changes that may help, such as elevate the head of ur bed, do not lay down for 3 to 4 hrs after eating, etc....see more tips in the Health Pages.
Years ago I had chest pain that I thought was heart related. Freaked me out to say the least. I was in my mid 30's and in decent shape. After lots of tests it turned out to be nothing more than Costochondritis, and the doc said it was probably caused by sleeping under a ceiling fan. Not sure about that explanation but it went away on it's own after a few weeks. If you've had an EKG you're probably good to go as far as your heart goes.
