For the past three weeks I have had daily bouts with constant burping (burping which lasts for hours) which usually comes up either when I am terribly hungry or after I have eaten. Over the past 10 years or so I have had very infrequent burping bouts, usually associated with my stomach being empty, but nothing like this.
A medical diagnosis and blood labs ruled out bacteria, and I was prescribed Nexium and placed on diet restrictions. None of it is working after a week of meds (taken exactly as prescribed) and the blandest foods (soda crackers, rice, cream of wheat, low fat cottage cheese, bread, watered down juice). When I read about GERD/acid reflux, the only real symptom I have is the burping, which is uncomfortable, but not painful, and which does not go away with the nexium, so it makes me think this is not acid reflux. Also, after a week of the meds/diet today the burping seems to just be present all day, Drinking a pro biotic juice and taking 2 pepto bismol only temporarily helped. Are there other stomach ailments that could cause this?
