Stomach Pain being diagnosed as heartburn

Hi Everyone,

I am a 28 year old male, I live in California, and I have a lot of stomach pains,
but I'm having a hard time figuring it out....

My doctor just keeps harping on about heartburn...  but my pain is all over my lower abdoment, from the base of my rib cage down.
Sometimes it hurts right in the middle near the "bread basket" or w/e its called where the ribs come together...

My diet has been roughly the same since I was a teen, I eat out almost every meal... Fast foods... restaurant foods etc.. and a lot of cola (coke)  but over the past 5-6 years, I've been noticing that my diet is no longer agreeing with me...  I lose my appetite, I'm losing weight... (I'm 6'2 and weigh about 135lbs though I've never made it above 145lbs that I know of...  I do eat pretty quickly, so I can try and get as much food down as possible, because I can't seem to gain weight... so I may be eating too quickly...   it almost seems like my stomach isn't digesting fast enough or something.... and I burp a lot... randomly, not just after eating/drinking... and always have noises coming from my stomach....  sometimes water seems to help, so dehydration may be a piece of it... my bowel movements are mostly normal.... sometimes diarrhea...  My intestines just feel like they are always "hot" and bubbling...

I smoke a large amount of Marijuana... but that's also nothing new...

The pains in my stomach made me start looking up Appendicitis and now I'm starting to worry about stomach cancer or something...
The problem I have is that my doctor is only prescribing antacids  and saying its probably just heartburn...
and here in California it seems like doctors won't spend more than 15-20 minutes with you...  Makes me feel rushed, like they are just going with the first thing it sounds like so they can go home...

I've had two doctors talk to me about this,  when I was with Anthem, they actually did ultrasound,, The person doing the ultrasound, acted like she saw things, circled a lot of areas for the doctor to look at, but said she couldn't tell me about it, the doctor would have to....   then I went back to the doctor and they lost my ultrasounds results TWICE, once she found them, she said she didn't see anything, said it was my diet and sent me on my way....

So I switched to Kaiser, my Kaiser doctor is the one saying heartburn/Acid...  I requested an endoscopy (down the throat)  and then also said they didn't see anything...

I know its a lot of information, Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Your diet could possibly be the root of your issues and it may have caused you to develop GERD/ acid reflux.

Modifying your diet and lifestyle can help ......and it may also help you gain weight...eating correctly often times will change  the way the body metabolizes the food we feed it.

Request copies of your tests along with copies of the reports from the facility that did the studies and going forward always request copies....
The reports and results can help you get a 2nd or 3rd opinion or another Dr to help Dx what is going on if it is more then your choice of diet and lifestyle.
