DYSPEPSIA

I HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF INDIGESTION. SPECIFICALLY IT IS MORE TO MAJOR MEALS & SLIGHTLY FATTY FOODS. MY ENDOSCOPY REPORT REVEALED "GERD", BUT I HAVE NEVER FELT HEARTBURN OR SEVERE ACID REFLUX. ONLY SYMPTOM IS INDIGESTION, TIME TAKEN EMPTY MY STOMACH IS ABOUT 7 TO 8 HRS OR MORE IF I HAD TAKEN NONVEG. ONE STRANGE THING- I HVE GIGNIFICANT INTOLERANCE TO SPECIFIC FOOD ITEMS SUCH AS-"EGGS, CUCUMBER, GARLIC, "
ONE OF EXPERT GASTROENTEROLOGIST DIAGNOSED AS "FUNCTIONAL DYSPEPSIA". THERAPY TAKEN_ PPI, ANTI H.PYLORI REGIMEN. NOW CONTINUING FAMOTIDINE(20) OD.
I REALLY NEED TO EVALUATE- 1) WHAT CAUSE IS THIS
2) WHY INTOLERANCE 2 SPECIFIC FOODS
3) IN SPITE OF OPTIMAL TREATMENT WITH PANTOPRAZOLE+ITOPRIDE, SUCRALFATE, WHY I CAN'T HAVE NORMAL GASTRIC EMPTYING TIME AS OTHERS.

I am in the same predicament as you. I have been taking Protonix (Pantoprazole) for a few years now. If I stop taking it, I have a constant burning in my throat during the day as well as waking up at night. I have seen several doctors and none of them can tell me what is happening. I do notice though, that if I stop eating spicy food like, vinegar, hot sauce and things like that and not eat past 6:00 pm, it works out better. I know this probably wasn't much help but at least you're not alone. I have other friends with the same problem.

Hi...there is a condition called silent reflux...meaning u may not be aware of the condition as u do not have expected symptoms.

Fatty foods/ greasy foods can affect ur digestive tract....be it indigestion or IBS issues.

Diet modification can help...avoiding foods that do trigger ur symptoms will help as well.We do have a list of foods to avoid, but we each may have certain foods that just set us off.Keeping a journal is helpful to determine which foods r ur triggers.
