Dyspepsia? Hep a brutha out here!!

I've been diagnosed with Peptic Ulcer Disease and currently take Protonix and Carafate and I think I've developed some side effects to the Protonix (Cough, Dizzy, ligthheaded, lower back pain.)  Also...I suffer from bad belching, gas and pressure which I just found out is something called Dyspepsia.  Over the past 4 years I've taken aspirin on a regular bases for headaches and general body aches and pains and read on a website that aspirin can be a major contributor to Dyspepsia.  My problem is after eating certain foods the pain, pressure, gas, belching...is sometimes too much to bear and I'm not really sure what causes the dyspepsia attacks.

has anyone else developed a treatment plan for something like this?  At first I thought I was allergic to Gluten so I quit eating bread.  It helped for awhile then the symptoms returned.  Then I eliminated dairy, fruit, sugar....anything to make this stop yet nothing helped.  My diet is very restricted as almost anything I eat casuses me pain.  CAN YOU HEP A BRUTHA OUT??

HI...have u been checked for an autoimmune thyroid issue?

Ask ur dr to test if not done already ur TSH, freeT3, and Free T 4 ...TOP antibodies...there is a condition called Hashimoto's that can flux btwn being hyper and hypo...and could explain the weight loss.

I am not saying this is ur issue or that it is an isolated issue, just something u may want to rule out.

Good luck

Hi Selma,
Yes...I have changed just about everything a person could change.  I've always exercised and don't drink alcohol and see my GI doctor on a regular basis.   I don't eat fast food and eat about as good as a person can.  I've also tried eliminating every "allergy" food there is such as dairy, shell fish, gluten, nuts...etc.

I've also gone through a weight issue and about one year ago I started losing weight for no reason.  When I began losing weight I increase my daily calorie intake but nothing I did seemed to reverse the weight loss and today my wieght can fluctuate up to 7lbs in a week.  I have been checked for cancer on several different occasions.  The only thing I can come up with is I have developed an allergy to some kind of additive or preservative.

HI ...I am so sorry u r in such discomfort....I can only suggest u go back to ur GI dr,,,u may have something more going on.

Diet and lifestyle modification along with meds should help...I have no idea if u have tried all of them, but u did change ur diet quite a bit....

DO u smoke, drink alcohol?.....had a weight change?...gain or loss?
