GORD

Hello ,

I am 29 yrs old male, few days before, I suddenly had a right chest pain, followed by breathing trouble and sweating, I was taken to the GP, as per the ECG, he transferred me to Hospital, But after the detailed check up, I was told that its because of the GORD, I am advised to take Somac ( Pantoparazole 40 mg) tablets for 30 days, ( new ECG was done, nothing found wrong) its been 4 days now, I am taking the medicine, but the problem is even now I have slight pain ( not continues) on both chest and I burp a lot, many times a day.i was told that it could be because of the Reflux. Please advise.

Heart problems, like Angina, tend to increase and radiate toward the left side of the chest.  Think of the heaviest person in your 6th grade class sitting on your chest.  You need, as confirmed by Selma, to take the drug EXACTLY as prescribed for about a month to get relief.  I have had surgery for both GERD and heart issues.  It isn't always easy to determine the difference.  Age is certainly on your side, heart issues are pretty rare with young guys.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Yes it is possible u have GERD, and meds can help, but along with the meds u need to avoid certain foods that can trigger a flare.....

Spicy, greasy, acidic foods can  be a major issue...as can carbonated bevs..and caffeinated bevs .like coffee and some tea...alcohol....smoking etc....

Burping or bloating is possible with these meds....talk with ur Dr and do give the meds time to work as 4 days is not enuff time...if after a few weeks u feel no better ur Dr may be able to change ur meds.
