Need some advice. I have gerd and sleep apnea and was wondering, what is the best position for sleeping. Left side, right side, stomach, or back.

I  have GERD and sleep apnea. I am on at least 5 different types of medication for the GERD. I am on a CPAP machine with oxygen. I have a split king adjustable bed as my wife cannot stand to have her head elivated I have been on this for over 20 years. The only thing that really helps is to not eat any thing later than 4PM. This includes all liquids.  I normally go to bed at 10-11PM.  Make sure you are not overweight as it exerbates the problem. It all really lates to making hard life style changed.

I have a captains bed so I cannot raise the head of my bed frame. I do stop eating eating at least 3 to 4 hrs prior to lying down.

Thank you for the advice.

Well u need to be on an incline and the best person to ask is Dr Park...he is on MedHelp and does many journals and free teleconferences on sleep apnea and sleep in general.

Do u have the head of ur bed elevated?...have u stopped eating at least 3 to 4 hrs prior to lying down?
