Gerds Connected to Heart?

Trying to figure out how to go about my current issues with gerds.
I have always slept on my stomach and have hard time sleeping on my back. I always wake up with chest pain. I don't know why I do. Also I don't know but does gerds cause heart palpitations. I've noticed when it's bad I have shortness of breathe, heart palpitations, feel like a volcano inside and get a squeezing my heart feeling.
I'm currently on Protonix.
I don't know what to do and going to the ER isn't helping me either.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Sorry you are having this difficulty.  Many people do get confused between their symptoms of GERD and heart issues.  Both can create chest discomfort.  It sounds like you've been to the ER to rule out an immediate coronary event?  I would then follow up with a primary care physician.  Remember that emergency rooms focus on immediate emergencies that need attention and don't generally provide ongoing care.  If your GERD is not well managed on your current medication, it is time to revisit this with the prescribing doctor.  Gerd most definitely can cause tightness in your chest but nor usually palpitations.  This article has interesting information, however, that while GERD is unlikely to cause palpitations, palpitations and GERD can have some of the same triggers.  https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/322924.php.  Let us know what your doctor says.
