H. pylori and prilosec making it worse

I was diagnosed with H.pylori a year ago, but was not having any symptoms, as far as acid indigestion or heart burn,, my doctor told me i had to take prilosec and a triple antibiotic treatment.. well long story short, i still have h.pylori and now developed GERD and Acid Reflux because of the long term use of prilosec.. I cannot stop taking the prilosec because the acid and chest pain come back times a million, and i cant eat really anything anymore.. I did not have any problems with acid or chest pains or not being able to eat until i started taking the prilosec.. I really think that if i wasnt having any symptoms then why give someone some for symptoms there not having, just to make them worse in the end.. How do i get off prilosec and take something natural so i can get back to eating normal and have no more stomach aches and chest pain from acid indigestion

Hi I have to ditto Flycaster...he makes very good points and all the same I was thinking as  I read ur post.

H.Pylori can take several rounds of antibiotics to get rid of...and since u have it for so long it may take a while once again to get rid of...plus, the antibiotics as Flycaster mentioned will cause digestive upset....so u may want to try a probiotic to restore the natural balance in stead of trying a PPI or other med.....especially since u r not treating a typical GERD issue this is med related...and it could just be u need to restore the bacteria the antibiotics killed.

Avoiding triggers  that Flycaster mentioned is also a good idea until u have ur balance back.....

The other issue is how long were u taking the prilosec b4 u tried  to stop taking it...u have to step off slowly as u can be affected with what is known as rebound effect......

Diet is very important ....as well as Flycaster mentioned in getting rid of what is causing the issue....

Good luck and do post updates on ur progress : )

I think you need to reconsider your problem from day one.  Why were you diagnosed the problem when you didn't have symptoms?  I would think some issue took to you to the doctor.  What antibiotic were/are you taking?  Antibiotics can create all kinds of digestion complaints.  Have you had an Endoscopy?  This test helps diagnose digestive issues.  I would doubt Prilosec would cause your discomfort.  What have you done to control your diet?  Are you avoiding trigger foods, avoiding eating  three hours before bedtime, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, particularly hard drinks, beer, and carbonated soft drinks?

Natural products can work wonders, but first you have to eliminate the causes of your problem.  Keep us informed.
