You could consider to go on a low carbohydrate, high in good fats and protein diet like SCD or LowGI. The positive thing with such a diet is to get the inflammation down by reducing the sugars that the bugs love, as well as adding certain anti-inflammatory fatty acids like fish oil, linseed oil, olive oil and coconut oil. Some people (like me) are even able to eat coconut oil with a spoon, lol. The weight will come back once the inflammation is down.
If you don't have an ulcer, you wont have cancer yet. An endoscopy will help to see ulcers, as well as blood in sputum or stool. Be patient, stay calm, no need to worry yet. Stress is bad for the healing process. Take one step after the other, keep a diary for your good and bad days (smilies, for example) and concentrate on the good days that will get more and more from now on.
My doc just called - I'm tested positive for H. Pylori. I must have been carrying it for years. How can you test to rule out cancer? I read that for some type of gastric cancer when you see it in endoscope, it's already too late. What kind of imaging is best for detecting/ruling out hastric cancer?
Yes, I took that test earlier this week, still waiting for results //fingers crossed. Thanks for the info! I don't drink but I do have serious troubles eating and sleeping well. I lost 7% of weight over past 2 months (12% over past 6 months period). Just lost another 2 lbs since yesterday? What should I eat if my tummy is so irritated by any food intake? liquid seems to be okay, so I drinks lots of superfood high calerie drinks everyday, but that doesn't seem to help slow down my weight loss. :(
There are no different strains, as far as I know. Once you got to the ulcer stage, the risk is pretty high...so get rid of them.
But a risk is only that, a risk, it doesnt mean you will get it 100%.
The body has incredible healing powers. Test for them, there is an antibody blood test If I remember right. if you have them, get rid of them, eat healthy, no alcohol (alcohol is a great enhancer for cancerous damage) and you should be fine.
Good luck!
OMG, I grew up in China and never heard about this in when I was young. My dad passed away due to esophageal cancer. Now I am getting worsening GI symptoms and rapid weight loss, and my doc is very concerned and sending me to test this for the 1st time in my life (I'm 35). How likely is this to become cancer? Are there different kind of strands (e.g., high risk vs. low risk)?
The full name is Helicobater pylorii, it is a bacteria that can live in the stomach. It produces ammonia to protect itself from the stomach acid. It leads to inflammation of the stomach lining and ulcers, and if not treated, has a high risk for stomach cancer.
You can get it from your mother as a baby (licked your spoon), from everyone you kissed, or shared drinks, food, etc.
Can be killed with a combo of antibiotics and a stomach acid inhibitor.
Helicobacter pylori (English pronunciation: /ˌhɛlɨkɵˈbæktər paɪˈlɔraɪ/; H. pylori), previously named Campylobacter pyloridis, is a Gram-negative, microaerophilic bacterium found in the stomach. It was identified in 1982 by Barry Marshall and Robin Warren, who found that it was present in patients with chronic gastritis and gastric ulcers, conditions that were not previously believed to have a microbial cause.
H. pylori bacteria can be passed from person to person through direct contact with saliva, vomit or fecal matter. H. pylori can also be spread through contaminated food or water. The infection is usually acquired during childhood.
