Is a bowel obstruction a reason for acid reflux?

About a year ago, I had a double bowel obstruction, and I came rather close to experiencing the other side of life.  During this experience, I vomited very violently.  I recovered, but noticed my about six month ago my voice was changing, becoming very rough, and experienced indigestion.  A visit to an ENT doctor confirmed my vocal chords were burned.  I also noticed that my teeth were darkening, and a visit to the dentist confirmed acid was distroying my my tooth enamel.  I've raised my bed, taking the drugs as prescribed and it is helping, but I'm scheduled for laparoscopic surgery to repair the valve. I've got a condition called Barrett's Esophagus, I've had a couple of studies to determine that.  I've asked my doctor if the double bowel obstruction caused this situation, and he is not sure.  What is your opinion?

Thank you.

Hi,
Bowel obstruction causes vomiting. Repeated vomiting can cause some symptoms similar to GERD.
Violent retching does not affect the valve. But it can damage the lower end of esophagus.

My GERD is caused by the eroded 'valve' that allows acid to back up into my esphagus.  My vitamin levels are excellent per blood panels.  I do know that Omaprozole and the drug Plavix doesn't mix well, but that is the only warning I know of.  GERD can cause anemia because of blood loss if there is a perforation, that may be your confusion.
My question was aimed at determining if violent retching could damage that valve in the Esophagus, but thanks for responding.

After some on line research I found out that acid reflux is usually because of anemia, and antacid medication will give you anemia as they take vitamin b12 out of your body. Not sure what medication you are taking but some treatments like omaprazole take quite a few vitamins out of the body.
