Is it LPD or something else?

After seeing many specialist regarding various symptoms I have been experiencing including a choking feeling in my neck and extreme hoarseness....i was finally diagnosed with LPD. I am taking aciphex twice daily. I do not think this is a correct diagnosis. I do not get any heartburn, or sensation of not being able to swallow. I have to return to my ENT in three months. He just stuck a small long thing down my nose for my first visit with him and said i was really red and swollen and said i have lpd. What could be done to determine if this is really causing my symptoms? I am 39 years old.

thank you. new term for me, yes LPR not LPD. What causes LPR? I am a 39, married, female with three children. I have never experienced this in my life except for the last year or so. I'm extremely active, exercise regularly, eat healthy, etc. etc. When you mentioned life style modification what are you referring to? thank you again for your help.

Hi my3kanes,
A person can suffer from LPR without having heart burn or any other GERD symptoms.

The diagnosis is confirmed by -
1. Laryngoscopy ( already done)
2. Endoscopy
3. 24/48 hours pH monitoring

Treatment -
1. PPI immediately before food for 4-8 weeks
2. Life style modification
