LPR and noisy breathing

Hi everyone

I have just recently been diagnosed with LPR by ENT specialist this is because I have been experiencing wheezy noisy breathing when I lie down.  The ENT specialist scoped my nose and said my voice box was swollen so he has put me on Omeprazole for 6 mths to see if this will help.  He says I have reflux going into my larynx even though I do not have heartburn.  Has anyone else experienced this thanks

This is interesting as i went to ENT last year and he said i had over used my voice box and that i must shout a lot!! I do not!
He said no cure just get on with it!
So maybe its the acid causing my lump in my throat and pain in my neck-agony on a bad day, but surely he would have seen something on the big camera he stuck down my throat?!
My dad had throat cancer and i was convinced thats what i had got, thats the only reason i was referred to him i had to insist and when he told me voice box over stretched i did not think this was causing my pain as i say i do not shout but i prob do talk a lot but when i get the pain i can barely face talking at all. Thanks for your posts i feel so much better knowing i am not alone :0)

Hi...it is possible to have reflux with out heartburn, it is also called silent reflux......

Symptoms of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux are:

Continual throat clearing
Chronic throat irritation
Chronic cough
Hoarseness
Excessive phlegm the throat
Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
Constant sensation of something in the throat
Swallowed food comes back up
Post nasal drainage
Weak voice
Cracking voice
Blockage of the breathing passage
Spasm of the larynx (voice box)
Wheezing
Heartburn
This condition is a result of both UES and LES not working correctly.
And it is possible not to have typical gerd/acid reflux  symptoms.
