LPR caused by Naproxen anyone??? HELP !!

Dear all,
Started 8 weeks ago with intense sore throat and unable to swallow with ball of mucus stuck in throat and intensely sore throat, constant throat clearing and waterfall of mucus running down from back of nose constantly. Very long story short - I have been off work with back issue for 5 months and hence have been on gabapentin and Naproxen ( 1000mg per day !) was going for a spinal nerve block procedure jan 5th day before started with these throat symptoms that have gone from bad to v v bad ever since. Have lost 1.5 stone in weight in less than 6 weeks, Have tried to get in with GP which has been impossible - have suffered extreme anxiety with it all as docs I have seen have said its vioral and will go away ??? then they say possible sinusitus ?? I started 4 weeks ago doing the sinus washes twice a day and then taking a steroid nasal spray about 18 days ago.....this seems to have helped dry up some of the mucus running from back of nose.

Got totally fed up being left so went online and found that one of causes for PND is GERD - investigated further and found the whole LPR thing. I had been complaining for week of pains in my chest and my tongue feels like its fizzing and burning all of the time. I have all of the symptoms of LPR i think and am wondering if this was caused by the strong dose of Naproxen that I have been on for 5 months giving me these silent reflux issues that have damaged my throat?

I have stopped the naproxen 2 weeks ago now - symptoms don't seem any better - have had an endoscopy which showed stomach and oesophagus were ok but they have put me on Omeprazole twice a day and I am keeping up with the nasal washes etc as am sure that it is keeping the post nasal drip symptoms at bay. Have seen ENT's who have scoped me through the nose twice and they say that my throat and vocal chords are very red ( eventhough endoscopy said they were fine) todays scope the ENT seems shocked and said that whole throat was covered in a sticky thick clear mucus which is what i have been telling them it feels like for the last 8 weeks. He wants a CT of sinuses eventhough he is telling me it could be down to reflux ??

How is my throat going to heal if its covered in mucus that I am led to believe inflames and aggravates?? Can anyone help or answer? Has anyone had this experience and come through the other side.

I need major back surgery but they won't do the surgery now until my throat issues are resolved?

Hoping for some help and advice.  Can't eat anything really past this mucus in throat.

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum gage.

Reflux is not a listed side effect from this med....but many meds can trigger these symptoms when there is an existing issues present....

NSAIDS can also affect one's digestive tract...diet modification can help.....

I have been suffering from Silent Reflux for months.  Just recently started to heal after I got back on Kangen water, which is very alkaline.  Was doing well, until I started taking Naproxen for a torn tendon in my foot.  Now I can feel the acid building in my stomach.  I've also had asthma recently which is rare for me.  I'm thinking the Naproxen is causing my system to go very acidic.
