Lots of esophageal pain and buring

To start out. I was diagnosed with GERD when I was like 20. Last year, when I was 25, I had the lap band. Ok.. A couple weeks ago I was having horrible reflux to the point I would wake up gasping for air from choking on it. Well, I had my band adjusted and that cured that. That was about a month ago. This past week I have had such esophageal burning and now it is a constant pain. From about breastline up it just HURTS and is on fire. My soft pallet and teeth even hurt. I am taking 2 zantac and about a roll of rollaids and then at night chugging the Maalox. Nothing seems to help. I swear when I eat some ice cream trying to cool things off, I swear that ice cream curdles as soon as it hits my throat it is so hot. I am hungry, I just cant eat because it hurts so bad to swollow ANYTHING even just some ice water. What in the world is going on? What am I doing wrong that I am getting NO relief? I cant afford to have any test done. I know I probably need an EGD, but cant afford to have it done. I dont know what to do anymore. Ive been tempted to go to the ER for the gastric coctail, but I dont even know if that would work, and that would look really bad walking in telling them I need a gastric coctail lol.  What else is there to do? Im miserable.

Well I called my doctor yesterday and we think it is a medication I was taking causing it to be so bad. I was ordered to stop taking it immediatly and they gave me a month supply of 2 nexium a day. HOPEFULLY this will help. I have actually already felt a difference since I started taking nexium and I didnt take that medication last night and I woke up with no pain and Im actually hungry. So maybe this works. HOPEFULLY this is the cure *fingers crossed*

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

U may want  to contact ur GI dr and ask if u may need to switch ur meds..... the zantac is not working for u.
I recently had to change my meds as something that had worked stopped.....

U may also have to watch ur diet.....stress can make these issues worse so do try to relax as much as possible.
