My wife has been coughing for the past six months and we have visited a number of doctors but with no results. Every possible test has been taken and all test results are clear. Allergic test was done and it shows no Allergie of any kind, Ch east x ray was done and the results were clear. last we went to India and visited an ENT. he said that there was swelling in the Respiratory system and gave medicine and  the cough went for till she took the medicine. Once the medicine stopped the cough came back. She is very tired as no cause has been detected.

Test the lungs. My grandma has lung cancer for 10 years undiagnosed because no one ever looked. Her only symptoms cough and later horsed voice.

I was thinking the same thing as Flycaster.

Is she taking any medication for high blood pressure or heart medication?

What med was she prescribed for the cough?

Just a thought... chronic coughs are very common with people taking Alpha Blocker drugs for the heart and other ailments.

I would recommend sublingual (under the tongue) B12. Maybe 1000mcg daily for a few months to see if fatigue (most common symptom of low B12) and chronic cough improves.

Excerpt from Vitamin B12 Deficiency is a Common Cause for Chronic Coughing by Dr David Jockers...

"A recent study done by the University of Turin and Mauriziano Hospital in Italy showed a significant correlation between vitamin B12 deficiency and unexplained chronic cough. This study, which was presented at the World Allergy Organization XXI World Allergy Congress, discussed the impact of this new finding in the world of allergies and immunology.

This study examined 302 patients with chronic cough at the Italian hospital. The most common diagnosed cases of chronic cough included adverse drug events, cough reflex sensitivity, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and allergic rhinitis. 15% (40) of the population had no known origin for their chronic cough.

The research group, led by Dr. Guiseppe Guida, hypothesized the possible connection to sensory neuropathy and B12 deficiency. Out of the 40 individuals with chronic unexplained cough, 25 had a B12 deficiency (serum levels <300 pg/ml), while 15 did not."
