I'm 27 and I've recently been diagnosed with indigestion. Though, I've found out myself is GERD (via having the symptoms, non-stop for the last week with on and off for a few weeks before). As a sufferer of anxiety and have used medication in the past and would rather not take the omeprazole as prescribed. However, i don't want to completely ignore my GP's advice and stop taking it. I understand that most/all medications take a bit of time to work, but i don't want to spend the next two months practically home bound waiting for it to 'calm itself down'.
I've been wondering about getting a endoscopy, not only to calm my worries but to possibly pin-point a culprit for the problem. Even if there isn't one, i would feel somehow reassured against the probable two months+ of GERD symptoms. So, my question would be how do i go about this, without my GP mentioning i shouldn't be impatient and wait longer? (or prescribing me some other form of medication) would it be feasible even though i've only been on the medication for a week? and is there any additional available information is there for endoscopy's?
Oh and if anyone has any similar experiences to me?
Thanks for any and all help.
Jay
