Nexium, reasonable time to work

Well it has been nine days since my primary increased my Nexium 40mg to 2x a day. I have since then tried to be vigilant about what I eat, when I can eat.And not to eat anything latter at night. Also I am taking ondansetron 4 mg, it says 1 every 8 hours or as needed for nausea and vomiting. But my problems is more cramping under my sternum, it becomes in the realm of 7-8 on a 1-10, pain scale. So I see no reason to take it, cramping seems to be different to me than nausea and vomiting, although at times my ribavirin does not want to stay down, this issue is also a relatively new problem.
I have tramadol 50 mg for pain and that doesn't touch it.
Also I am currently taking interferon-alpha 2a 180 mcg a week and ribavirin 400 mg 2x a day to treat hep c gt3a virus and have been for 31 weeks, I have I have 17 more weeks to complete this tx plan.
I have an appointment to see a GI but that is not until 9/23, not acceptable, and yet it is what it is. I have called the GI office and tried to get in earlier, nothing yet.
What should I do? How can I "cool" my stomach off, can you recommend some sort of diet, I have in 31 weeks lost 38 lbs, am now down to what I weight in H.S. 37 years ago, and am becoming increasingly uncomfortable with that, vanity, another issue I was unaware of.LOL.
Thank you    Tim

TRAMADOL ORAL SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, or headache may occur. Some of these side effects may decrease after you have been using this medication for a while. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Always look to meds u r on when u r having issues/symptoms to see if it can be a side effect and always contact ur Dr asap with ne side efffects.

Since u r on other meds, contact ur pharmacist and ask about possible interactions of what u r on....make sure they are not part of ur issue.

Meds can help and hurt all at the same time so do check into ALL the meds u r currently on, speak to ur Dr and pharmacist to see if u can start by changing something around, DO NOT change ur meds by urself as u can have withdrawl symptoms from the tramadol.
