Nexium

Hi My name is Victoria Lockett. I am writing to you on the concern of my finace. He has had very bad stomach problems since we met 2 years ago and now is just getting worse. He has been having problems such as: Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.I. some time in the begining of next month but with most of the doctors we see they do not care to look further into this and just listen to his symptoms and give him whatever and send him on his way. I really want him to get on the right track here and I really would like him to get the better help he deserves and needs. Please help if you can I am in desperate needs!!

Thank you very much.

Would like to add that another thing your fiancee could be tested for is "Celiac". There is a special blood test that can rule this out... or else it will tell you that you need an endoscopy to confirm it.
I suggest you search "Celiac" or "Coeliac" on the internet and see if the symptoms fit. It's a intolerance to gluten.

Good luck!

Hi,
Weight gain has been reported as one of the side effects of Nexium.
IBS can cause the symptoms you have mentioned.
Regarding the diet for IBS and gas-
1. Decrease fat cotent
2. Increase fiber content
3. Exclude dairy products, fruits and soft drinks
