Pain in upper right quadrant under rib cage

I am 43 year old female, for the past 10 days or so I have been having pain on my right side under my rib cage that radiates to my shoulder blade area.  I do not have any heartburn symptoms.  It really doesnt matter what type of food I eat, it hurts all the time,  I have seen my Dr. he thought it sounded like classic gallbaldder symptoms.  I have had an ultra sound - everything seemed normal, I had a CT scan done (the barium drink is gross) and that seems to be normal too.  I have to see him tomorrow, and I am really nervous.  Any ideas?

Hi,

I am 42 yr old female.  I went to the doctor with a choking type feeling in my throat area.  Tests showed thyroid o.k.  Doc put me on nexium for reflux for 6 months.  It didn't seem to make much of a difference.  I have been going to a weight management doctor and thought all the suppliments and diet might be causing the problem.  I started having pain under my ribcage in the liver area.  Ultrasound showed liver and gallbladder were fine.  I have had pain in the upper right quadrant, liver area. Sometimes it is sharp, other times it is dull.  The day after I have this pain my stools are tan.  I have nausea off and on that reminds me of that sick feeling you get when you are pregnant.  I have problems eliminating.  I went for an MRI to rule out any problems from my pelvis area - checked out fine.  Abdominal Ultrasound checked out fine.  I am going to ask to see a Gastro Doc next.  Your symptoms sound somewhat similar to mine.  Have you found a diagnosis yet?

Thanks,
coachzwife

Hi rose82,
The symptoms are suggestive of gall bladder involvement only.

I would suggest that you get a second opinion from a gastroenterologist.
