Terrible GERD Help

Hi

In the last year I have had 3 months of consistent heart burn. This would not respond to any PPIs and I then had a endoscopy.

The endoscopy seems fine but a biopsy revealed some reflux change in the bottom of the stomach and mild gastritis.

It all finally calmed down and I was reflux free for about 6 months. Unfortunately it is back and yet again not responding to PPIS.

I really am lost and do not know what to do now. This seems to happen after stressful periods.

I am only 23 years old and i dont know if i should consider surgery.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Look to each time period to see if these were stressful times regardless of the reflux issue...if so, that could be a trigger to cause your symptoms to flare....

Modify your diet and lifestyle and talk with your Dr....it may be possible you need to try a different med...PPI's stopped working for me as well and I was switched to a H2I and that works so much better.....

Talk with your Dr and keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you for your reply

I am currently on 2x Pantoprazole 20mg and 300mg Ranitidine.
I have been really stressed both times my reflux started.

They just seem to have no effect on me I have been avoiding all foods that koufman recommends.

I guess its back to the drs for me :(

The doctor said it should take 6 weeks and it should settle down.

He also said it might not be that the acid has calmed down but my stomach is still inflamed
