Yes it can as the acid erodes the lining and gets very sore...many PPI's ( meds for reflux) with slowing the production of the acids to allow it to heal can help u feel better...see a GI dr to get a dx and the correct treatment for u.
Below is one form of reflux that can cause throat irritation:
Symptoms of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux are:
Continual throat clearing
Chronic throat irritation
Chronic cough
Hoarseness
Excessive phlegm the throat
Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
Constant sensation of something in the throat
Swallowed food comes back up
Post nasal drainage
Weak voice
Cracking voice
Blockage of the breathing passage
Spasm of the larynx (voice box)
Wheezing
Heartburn
This condition is a result of both UES and LES not working correctly.
And it is possible not to have typical gerd/acid reflux symptoms.
Thanks
It's not really a soreness or irritation of the lining it's more like just a pain and aching like in the actual muscles of my throat. Is that normal? I've been looking it up but I can't really find anything...
Were u checked for a thyroid issue too?
U may want to look into it as well just to be sure.
