coma/h.hernia

Appreciate response from past question...Had heart test and it was good results month before 911/ coma/ventilator/heart attacts....One Dr. said the H.Hernia presses on diaphrgam which then, blocks oxygen to lungs is what caused the coma/heart attacks.....Another Dr. says heart attack caused the coma, etc. I have NEVER had any symptoms of GERD/heartburn...yet...suppose to have it. ! This drastic pain where esopohagus meets stomach sometimes last for over a month....hurts to walk...talk, etc.get out of breath and painful to try to breath...then again...I may be ok for a week or so...never know when hurt will begin..Surely this cannot be heart attack...If so...it's been lasting on and off for 5 years !..Sure need help to find right direction to go !  Another odd thing...used to have high Blood .Pressure....Since the coma...B.P. stays around 100/60 !....Thanks so much....C

Hi Cecil290,
Hiatus Hernia is not known to cause coma. May be your heart attack had made you comatose.

Regarding the symptoms of hiatus hernia, you can avoid the symptoms by -
1. PPI
2. Avoid  anything that increase the intraabdominal pressure - like avoiding straining during bowel movements, avoiding lifting heavy objects

If the symptoms persist , you can consider surgery for hiatus hernia.

Hi Cecil290,
PPI is proton pump inhibitor. They suppress the secretion of acid from the stomach and provides relief from symptoms related to it including heart burn.
