do i have GERD?

i have had stomach problems for awhile now. i dont know if i have an ulcer or acid reflux disease. i have constant heartburn and nausea after eating.i often feel full or bloated like my stomach is swollen and puffy. whenever i drink alcohol even a drink or 2 i get violently ill and puke the whole next day. i know alcohol is bad for you and can make you sick but it never used to affect me in that way. what could be the problem???

You could have any of the following:

1. GERD
2. A GI tract infection
3. Gall stones

a) It is better to see a doc.

b) In the interim, you could try Prilosec OTC (Omeprazole 20mg) once a day and Domperidone 10mg 3 times a day to help yourself deal with the burning sensation and the nausea.

c) Eliminate coffee, alcohol and aerated drinks.

d) Have frequent but small meals.

The doc may ask for an upper GI endoscopy and an ultrasound scan of the abdomen.Dont worry, these procedures are not too painful.

Hi...well alcohol is a No No for gerd sufferers......it will make matters worse.
But u need a GI dr to dx u and let u know what ur root issue is...u may have gerd or a Gall Bladder issue. Even a hiatal hernia is possible.
Please see the Health Pages for foods to avoid and lifestyle changes that can aid in feeling better along with rx meds.

How to treat will depend on what is truly going on.

Please see the dr and post ur progress.

Good luck
