dysfunctional oesophagus

I have been diagnosed with dysfunctional oesophagus.  Over the last year it has deteriorated to a shocking level.  I am not not able to eat anything.  I have stopped going out for meals and even eating at home is causing me stress and depression.  I am losing weight at an alarming rat.  At the start of 2010 all I have managed to get down is one bowl of porridge.

The doctors have give me little help at the moment (trial and error) but suggested I eat soup for the rest of my life !!!!.  They have prescribed anti-sickness tablets which I can't get down even in warm water and a relaxant liquid which is also not working.   I have lost 3 stone in weight and worrying about my future.

PLEASE PLEASE can you suggest anything.  ANY help and advice would be gratefully received.
Thankyou very much.

Pauline M

Hi Pauline, I have the same problem as you. I have had it for approximately 15 years but I have a really good consultant who is trying to help me. How are you getting on, have you managed to sort anything out yet?
Kind regards Poppy Kate

Hi Pauline

Hoping you still not suffering as bad. Was wondering if any progress has been made with you. My daughter is 18, been diagnosed with GERD and has been vomitting every day for the last 2 months. She can also keep nothing down and hs been given various medicines to try, all which have failed to help. We are back and forth to the specialist desperately hoping for a miracle cure. We can fully relate to what your going through and wish you all the best.

Hello Selma
Thankyou for your response I really appreciate it.
I have made yet another appointment at my doctors today but I don't hold out much hope really.  But I will press more for some answers to this medical condition.

I would really appreciate anyone who has had something similar to my complaint as it seems to be quite rare.  I have no idea at the moment what to expect this year to be like.
Regards
Pauline

HI Pauline...I am not a dr, but did read an article in which a muscle relaxer was used to help with the motility issue of this condition.....amyl nitrate is the med in question, not sure if this was tried for u or not......but, again I am not a dr, but I would ask if something along these lines might help u.

Godspeed
