5 yr old with bronic spomach pain

My 5 yr old has always had stomach issues.  When he was an infant, lots of reflux, constipation.  Then as a toddler he has struggled with constipation and stomach aches.  He has been on Miralax for years.  The past few months the stomach aches are daily.  He is not constipated now, having a bm everyday.  The constistancy of the stools seem to vary greatly throughout the day, though.  Sometimes soft and then the next one may be hard.  His stomach ache is always right above his bellybutton and he occasionally (only 1-2 times) complains of epigastric pain.  We have an appointment with a GI specialist in a week but was wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and what it was.  His pediatrician is rather flip about it all saying "he doesn't look sick" but as his mom I know it is not normal to have stomach pain everyday.
Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if an allergy can do this.
I too have had these issues all my life...meds did not work for me either.I am taking miralax everyday and can still go 7 days and not be able to go.

So I do understand ur frustration.

They have just been medicating the constipation.  He just started taking Zantac per my request from the pediatrician.  He has not been checked for Celiac or anything else for that matter.  He never has diarrhea, could it still be celiacs?  The reflux he had as a baby just sort of resolved, but he was always very fussy- so maybe it never did resolve??

Im just at a loss and starting to get concerned.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

May I ask, does he still have acid reflux ?  What is he taking for the reflux? Constipation will cause stomach pains......
Has he been checked for any other conditions that could have caused him to have constipation and reflux? or did they just medicate the symptoms?

HAs he been checked for celiacs?
