Gall Bladder or Stomach infection

Hi,

I have been getting severe pains from what i thought was trapped wind for the past few months which had been keeping me up all night, however 2 days ago I had even worse pain coming from below my rib on the right side which lasted for around 20 hours.  I went to the doctors and he said it was probably my gall bladder but sent me for a blood test and referred me for a scan.

Following the blood test the doctor is saying that there are now signs of an infection and this might be in my stomach, or it might still be my gall bladder.

This all seemed to start after I came off the cambridge diet, could this have caused the problem? I also have to be very careful what I eat or drink,  even a cup of tea and some weetabix with milk can cause me severe pains.

Does anyone know what could be the problem, and also what is the best thing to eat?

Although there are other possible sources you give a prettymgood history for a gallbladder problem. It is hard to comment on the abnormal tests when you don't say what they were.

I had similar symptoms last Oct. slept all day, threw up three times (I only remember once.) My husband knew something was wrong and I felt warm to touch. He called 911. The EMT blamed it on an overdose b/c I took Tyl #4 for pain and I was overdosing. He told them I hadn't taken anything that day and I had thrown up three times. They walked me down 18 stairs (I don't remember any of it) and put me in the ambulance. Once at the ER, they gave me Narcon to reverse the drug effect. Didn't even take my temp! Told my husband I would wake up and be able to go home in a couple hours. My hubby asked them to take my temp. She got huffy and said she would. She started to leave and he said "Aren't you going to take her temp, she's burning up!" She said "Oh yeah." She took my temp and it was 103.6. He said all hell broke loose then and they started doing all kinds of tests. Turned out I had a BIG gallstone blocking the bile duct and I had a massive infection that grossed out the surgeon that was behind the gallstone and into my stomach. The surgeon and the infectious disease Dr's told my hubby if he wouldn't have called 911 and got me to the hospital, I would have been COLD by morning. Scary huh? They ended up taking out the gallbladder and putting a stint in to keep the bile duct open because the stone was too big to take out laproscopically. In Feb of this yr. I had the gallstone taken out. They knocked me out and went down my throat and used the sonic blaster and chipped away at it until it was gone. A 1/2 hr surgery turned into 3 hrs. You talk about a sore throat!! I feel like a new person! None of that suffering and gas pain. Good Luck!!
