Possible biliary dyskinesia/rapid weight loss - Help!

All the signs now seem to be pointing to the possibility of biliary dyskinesia. Tomorrow is my HIDA scan. All of my symptoms are pretty awful, but I think the most disconcerting is the rapid and severe weight loss I've had in the last few weeks. I normally weigh 112 pounds, but now am around 98-100. I can't even look in the mirror without crying. I look like a skeleton. If biliary dyskinesia is dx'd and I have to have my gall bladder out, is there a chance that I will be able to get back to a normal weight?

For a long time my problem has been an inability to keep fat on my body. I am always below the normal body fat % when the dr checks me, although I can't remember the exact number. I eat loads and loads of healthy fats (or I did up until recently when the URQ pain started). But no amount of fat I ate ever made a difference in my body fat %. I am very scared and hoping someone here has been in this situation or knows someone who has been and everything worked out. The insufficient body fat has also caused me to stop having periods which is extremely disturbing as well. :(

Hey Sherri.

I think it was not accidental that I came across your post.

Listen, I don't know if this makes any sense, but I can see why
many things have gone wrong for you.

You're probably suffering from adrenal stress, due to ongoing biological (hidden stress) and external stress, which down-regulates
your thyroid function, for adrenal recovery.
Any attempts to regulate thyroid function, without properly addressing the adrenals (any "artificial" ways to treat the adrenals is likely to fail, unless
a very comprehensive holistic treatment plan is  implemented, which may take  many months-up to a few years to correct), will not succeed, as you will be experiencing thyroid resistance, as secondary hypothyroidism
over and on top of primary hypothyroidism.

Liver and gallbladder detox, with low thyroid function, is not a good idea,
but it's even worse when it is not preceded by a colon detox and not followed by a colon detox each and every time!

You need to know your methylocobalamin (neurological B12) and methylfolate levels, as mercury interferes with methylation processes.
The specific test for this is a Homocysteine test, as the standard mma test does not indicate deficiencies in these methyl types.

It also interferes with the function of sulfur, disrupting what's known as
transsulfuration pathways, virtually messing up with proteins anywhere in the body ( sulfur is present in proteins and mercury binds to sulfur)
causing serious damaging effects.

You severe CFS can be easily explained now, if you consider the aforementioned conditions.

In regards to your suspected -as of last year-  biliary dyskinesia, it could be directly (primary biliary dyskenisia) or indirectly ( gallstones/cholelithiasis) attributed to low thyroid function, as well.

What is extremely concerning is your low fat status and inability to gain weight.
If this co-relates with very low cholesterol, below 160mg/dl-a likely scenario in your case- you are at high risk to suffer form serious hormonal  deficiencies, including vitamin D3, which BTW is a hormone and not a vitamin, and neurological issues.

Have you had this investigated?

Your body synthesizes about 80% of your cholesterol and diet alone cannot
make up the difference, should you have a serious cholesterol deficiency,
not related to diet.

There's one pharmaceutical grade cholesterol supplement, which I'm aware of, designed to correct cholesterol deficiency, called Sonic Cholesterol, made by New Beginnings Nutritionals (I have no affiliation with this company) and it's only available by prescription.

Please consider to forgo everything else you're doing at this time, other than addressing these fundamental issues and imbalances.
Otherwise you're likely to add extra burden to your already compromised
health, lessening the chances of making a full recovery.

Note that this should be discussed your doctor-hopefully s/he's a holistic
or functional medicine doctor, since you have a multitude of issues-
and as much as I believe my information is accurate, it is not intended as
a substitute for medical advice.

Should you have any questions or need any further details, please feel free to message me.

Best wishes.
Niko

Turns out I have Chronic Mercury Toxicity. (confirmed by hair analysis) The liver/gallbladder cleanse that I did last Mar/Apr dumped a ton of mercury into my colon all at once. Apparently all of the detoxing I had been doing in the preceding year was chelating mercury but it was accumulating in my gallbladder. (My ejection fraction was only like 51% so most of the Hg just stayed there.)

I'm lucky I didn't die from that cleanse. No wonder no doctors at the hospital could figure out what was wrong with me. They never consider heavy metal toxicity. They think that only acute poisoning is possible. It's going to take a long time to get rid of it all, but I am determined. I imagine I am still having the same gallbladder issues, but I'd like to keep the organ if possible. (I've heard some terrible stories from people who have had it removed.) I just want it to work better. I also am hypothryoid and have severe CFS. Life sure is a challenge, but I'm still here so I know I can get better. :)

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. Gallbladder disorders can cause problems with digesting fat. As you are losing weight you could get screened for metabolic disorders like hyperthyroidism and diabetes. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. If other conditions have been ruled out then it could be that you have an increased metabolic rate which could be preventing you from gaining weight. But usually skinny people have a genetic predisposition to like foods that are not fattening. You could start by keeping a diary and noting down the food you normally eat. Next slowly start increasing by say 500 calories per day. Maintain this for a week. Next increase by another 500 calories till you reach the desired weight. It is important that you substitute and eat healthy food like protein rich food. Also exercise helps build up muscle mass, so enroll in a good workout program. Good Luck with the scan.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
