Was there testing that implicated the gallbladder? It would not have explained blood in your stools. At 23 I would be thinking along the lines of inflammatory bowel disease. An endoscopy would certainly be in order.
If that is what the PCP is saying what has been done to treat it? I don't understand the delay in seeing the surgeon for postop issues.
im waiting to see him/her this is just what my gp is saying, not very useful to be honest...
One possibility is that you have post-cholecystectomy syndrome. This is thought to result from bile salts in an empty GI tract and results in rapid transit through the colon and severe diarrhea. It is usually dramatically improved with cholestyramine which binds the bile salts so they don't irritate the intestine, and fiber in the diet. What has your surgeon said about this?
they was saying at first it was acid reflux as i had my first attack when i was 7.5mnths pregnant. after they continued to say that until i didnt bother going to hospital and went to my gp and they sent me down to hospital to the gp unit in the hospital as i collapsed during an attack and after they took bloods they said my liver account was high and i had an ultrascan thats when they discovered i had large balls in my gall bladder. in the space of 4months i had 14 attacks which always led me to hopsital and always was admitted then was sent home as i was on a urgent waiting list. they just flagged off me being sick because of the gallbladder yet im worst now, i cant eat when im out as im always sick or it comes out the other end and i am basically eating just salad as i dnt get too sick with it. my life was on hold whilst having the gouldstones so after the op i thought i will be back to myself but its just as bad
