34 male symptoms

Well my symptoms started around mid January I think. I woke up and my upper right quadrant started to hurt where my gall bladder use to be. My gall bladder was taken out in March of 03'. So obviously I knew the pain was not my gall bladder. Ok so I did not freak out about that pain because I sleep on my right side sometimes at night which can cause pain.  Well, then occasionally I start to notice slight upper ab pain and I start moving a bit from the pain while sitting in chairs. Also, had belching and gas. My bowel movements all stayed the same and my appetite actually increased of all things.  Ok so the next week after that on a Thursday (last week) I get slight nausea a couple of times, but did not vomit or anything. I see my PCP on Friday (of last week) and he tells me to wait a while before running any tests. Ironically, I felt great when I saw him that day. Saturday rolls around and I still feel ok, but not as great as I did on Friday.

Sunday rolls around and I have a bit of stomach pain but not anything super bad until I eat ONE BOWL of raisin bran! Holy cow I got the worst ab pain of my life. I layed on the couch for hours in pain and had bad watery diarrhea that was dark brown and a bit of black. I kept going and going for many hours. That night I threw up four times one hour then a couple of hours later five times. Had chills as well and was so weak that it was really hard for me to even walk too the bathroom.  Next day I felt a bit better and still had a bit of diarrhea, but nothing horrible. I did not throw up either. Well, I was a bit dehydrated and have some friends drive me too the VA ER. They did blood, urine, EKG, and a CT scan with contrast/barium of my ab area. Everything was normal EXCEPT my the 101.5 mild fever that I did not realize I had and stomach pain. VA doc gives me antibiotics and I do better on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today I had a bit more stomach pain than yesterday and felt like I had a mild fever. I am thinking it could be because I ate some white rice, green beans, mac and cheese, and some cajun catfish. One good thing today was that I had my first stool movement since Monday. Looked ok and was different color from the anti-botic Flagila. Was not huge or anything, but hey I will take what I can get right?   One Point I forgot to add here is that on Saturday I act a bowl of Raisin Bran and it actually made me feel even better so why all of the complications on Sunday night the next day?

I have been trying not to think that I am getting or have stomach cancer, but it's hard not to think the worst you know? I have not tried any Gastritis meds and do not know if the VA tested me for H-Pylori. I will call the clinic later on today and see though. I did make a appointment with my Gastro doc on Monday to see what's up if anything. Any Thoughts? Thanks!

I sure hope if I have anything it's Gastritis.

Ok mammo will do! Yeah I screwed up yesterday and ate Cajun catfish and one tiny chocolate bar. Did not throw up or anything, but made my stomach hurt like hell.

You make a good point about the ulcer. Come to think of it if I eat something acidy the ab pain is even worse. So I very well could have a ulcer.

One good thing today was I have had three very normal sized bowel movements for the first time and I don't know how long. My ab pain is a bit worse though today than yesterday.

Yeah I read last night that stomach cancer can be caused by lots of sodium. I was like oh geeze when I read that thinking about all of the Gatorade that I drinked and the dill pickles I have eaten.

You may have an ulcer.  When your stool is black it indicates an upper GI bleed, which could be coming from the stomach or small intestine.  This doesn't mean cancer, it could be a bleeding ulcer.  It's good that you are seeing your GI doc on Monday, he should have some answers for you.  Until then, eat foods that are easy on the stomach, and easily digested.  Avoid spicy foods, and greasy foods.

THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!
