4 month old has had slimy poop for 2.5 months

Hi- my 4 month old (weighs 14lbs) has had slimy poop (sometimes explosive) for the past 2.5 months. He has no fever or discomfort. However, before the issue started, he gained 7 pounds before his 2 month check up. At his 4 month check, he gained only 12 ounces.

Pediatrician did tests on his stool but found nothing. They think the poop and lack of weight gain are unrelated but I don't believe it is.

Any thoughts will be helpful as he is dropping percentiles on the weight chart.

Thank you!

Thank you mammo! We have switched pediatricians and she doesn't think its connected too (because his weight is high), but she wants to run her tests too. Unfortunately, the gastroenterologist clinic near us insists on having a referral from our pediatrician.
Will keep pressing! Thanks!

Hi....I'm with you, the two are connected.  You need to take your baby to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist for an evaluation.  There are several things this could be which are all treatable.  Then find a new pediatrician!  Keep us posted and good luck.
