7 year old with mushy stool entire life

My daughter has a bm every day or two, but it is always very mushy. This has been the case off and on for her entire life. She has no pain but urgency is such that she often can't get to the toilet on time and even when she does it is so messy that she can't wipe herself clean. Needless to say she ends up with poop in her pants at school.

When I took her to the doctor I was told to cut down on her fruits and juices, but this made no difference. We also tried cutting out dairy and this did not help. Then we took her in for an x-ray and the doctor thought she saw an area in the intestines where stool was being held up so we were told to put her on Miralax. I thought after about three weeks that her stools were looking more well formed so we stopped using it with the doctor's approval. Now it is back to the same mush again, so bad we need diaper wipes to get it off.

Just for additional information she is a normal height and weight for her age. However, she does poorly in school and shows some signs of ADHD though we have not received a formal diagnosis.

What should I do?

My son has similar problems.  He had a colonoscopy and upper GI and the only thing found was duedoitis (sp?)  His problem is every day, sometimes multiple times a day, mushy and messy, sometimes watery.  He even has accidents in his sleep.  We are waiting to see his GI specialist again to find out what the biopsy results from his procedure are.  I am having a hard time finding anything online that sounds close to what is going on with my little guy.

Ever since 2007 I have had mushy poop.  Done all kinds of tests, changed my diet.  It was always the same answer from the doctors,  need more fiber in your diet, watch out for carbs, just what ever they thought, oh your just stressed need more water, rest.  REALLY..... They don't know.  I seen this commercial about probiotics  one day.  I thought gee maybe I need to put good bacteria into my gut.  went to health food stores, shopped around, OMG  there was just noway I could afford the price even with the cheapest brand every two weeks and then you were not guaranteed that they would survive passing through your stomach.   So I looked into other ways to get good bacteria which were teas, Sauerkraut
Miso Soup. ...
Soft Cheeses. ...
Kefir: Probiotic-Filled Drink. ...
Sourdough Bread. ...
Milk With Probiotics. ...
Sour Pickles. and good old yogurt which I love.   Sooo I started eating two yogurts aday and just in three days there was a changed in my poop.  I now eat two  yogurts a day everyday and  can now go and take a normal poop without hating to go any more.  Try it what do you have to lose.  It's not a cure for a disease,  but to put back the good bacteria in your gut is a must any ways.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  If the Miralax helped then she probably has constipation which is only letting mush through.  She might need to be on a long-term dose of a small amount of Miralax.  I would recommend making an appointment with a gastroenterologist to discuss this.
