Abdominal/Back Pain, Right Side

Hello,

For almost 2 years now I have been having a dull pain below my ribs on the right side. It is worse some days than others but is usually present. It hurts in this spot if I bend over, or if I lean against a counter or desk in that spot. I cannot feel a lump there, but I have noticed that when I push on the area that is sore, my back hurts as well, I can feel a twinge of pain in my back. I have been to the doctor, had a chest xray and an abdominal palpation exam and he found no masses or any problems. He suggested it may be muscular in cause and to use a heating pad and ibuprofen. It seems to help off and on, but it's still there. Any thought on what this could be? I am 28 years old, female, just quit smoking after 9 years and am about 30-40lbs overweight. No significant health problems to my knowledge, and had a colonoscopy a year ago with nothing found. This is driving me insane, please, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Megan

yeah i agree sounds like GB - if ultrasound doesnt find anything - Hidascan might. I suggest going to see a gastro specialist.

Hey there,
It sounds like you may have a GB issue, maybe your doc could prescribe an ultrasound for you to check it out.  I dont' think a CT will pick up gall stones(I could be wrong), but the way you are describing your pain sounds somewhat like gall stones.  Docs usually will want an US or a HIDA scan to check the gall bladder.

Good luck!
