Help with extremely heavy period and chronic constipation

For seven months now I’ve been constipated! Around the same time my period went from being regular to being extremely heavy. I soaked through multiple tampons in one hour and when I woke up my leggings were completely soaked in blood down to my ankles. This was not a miscarriage since my period has never went back to normal. Additionally I believe there is some sort of correlation between my period and constipation. I’ve gone to doctors they don’t seem to care or suggest anything beneficial. Laxatives help but as soon as I stop taking them I still get constipated. I’m tired of bleeding extremely heavily on my period as it’s preventing me from leaving my house during it.

Sorry you are having such a tough time.  So, chronic constipation is tough.  Laxatives are not a good idea to begin using because, unfortunately, they can ultimately compound the problem.  Ways to treat constipation include dietary changes.  Eating more fiber and fruit for example.  My son has a chronically slow digestive tract and it was recommended at the hospital when he was there with almost a bowel blockage of his own feces for him to drink a cup of grape juice daily.  When he does this, he will become more regular with bm's.  When is in training like during track season and works very hard on regular, solid hydration, he also has a better time of it.  So, up your liquid intake.  I don't really think your irregular periods are related though.  And the bleeding is unusually heavy it sounds like.  Possibly you have a cyst that burst or passed?  Have they ever done a check for this?  I would speak to your doctor about the bleeding.  And you may be a candidate for birth control pills to help regulate you.  I never found the to have many side effects myself.  So, treat them as separate issues.  I have a heavy period like yours but it does not last the whole time.  It is for usually one max of my entire period of 4 days.  And usually only for several hours of that day.  So, if you have this for a couple of days or more, definitely speak to your doctor.  good luck
