Bleeding and pain

Hello,

I was diagnosed with hemorrhoids about 4 years ago.  The past few weeks I have had a lot of abdominal cramping pain and pressure.  When I have BM's it feels like I am passing razor blades and bright red blood is always present, and occasionally I pass blood clots.  I went to my family doc 2 weeks ago because of an external protrusion.  She said it looked like an external hemorrhoid with a skin tag, but I can't get into to see the general surgeon for almost 4 weeks.  The abdominal cramping comes and goes, I have tail bone pain, I am having hot flashes (post partial hysterectomy 2003), and blood is present on the toilet paper and in the toilet even without a BM and I am getting worried.  At 37 this seems abnormal...

I called the office and they are seeing me tomorrow. I am so thankful! Not sure I could handle this pain much longer and the hot flashes are driving me batty...Thank goodness for A/C!

Lisa, I don't want to worry you, but it sounds like a bit more than just a hemorrhoid. Please call your doc back and ask for an appointment to talk about the situation in more detail and get some testing done, or alternatively ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist.  It could be a simple situation, but better safe than sorry.
