Blood on stool

I am 21 and female. I have been noticing blood around my stool every so often for a long time now. I have gastritis and was put on antibiotics for h. pylori. A few months ago I had a few very bad 'bouts' of vomiting,  watery diarrhea, lightheadedness, over a period of a few days each. i was sent to ER. Have had chest xray, back passage exam, blood test, urine test, colonoscopy, endoscopy, coeliac testing, and most recently an abdominal ultrasound, all of which were normal. I am not pregnant. I have recently been having mild-moderate internal pain around the bellybutton mainly and have been put on extra fibre. My movements are now regular, finally! But I'm still having bright red blood around stool occasionally and pain, should I have my small intestine examined?  My gastroenterologist does not seem too concerned at all and the problems are not causing me too much trouble now, apart from fatigue most of which has just passed in recent weeks but which can come on rapidly. But I am worried about the blood, and am in fear my symptoms will come back as I have no answers to what is wrong! No anal pain either.

Any help please!

It could also be from straining too hard... Bright red blood is usually not serious so I have been told.. If it was more serious it would be black or maroone colored.!! Dont know if this helps you.. I just recently had the same problems with the blood just maroon colored and they er did the rectal exam and just sent me home!!!

Thanks so much for your advice! Is there any way of having hemmorhoids without the symptoms? or without a lump/area of inflammation/pain? I have 'examined' myself but there is no pain at all or no feeling of swelling or lump, no itching there either.

The brighter red the blood is, the lower the bleed.  If your were bleeding higher up, your stool would be very dark, black and/or tarry.  Since you've been thoroughly checked out, I think the blood is coming from hemmorhoids.  They tend to put blood "on" the stool, tissue or in the water.  Having said this, I'm concerned that your GI hasn't explained all this to you, and I would opt for a second opinion anyway.  My son had to see 4 GI's before getting the right diagnosis. When your doctor isn't giving you answers, find one who will!  Also, with all the diarrhea and vomiting you may have lost all the "good" bacteria in your intestines which is needed for proper digestion, I would try some Activia Yogurt to replenish this.  I would also, drink plenty of water, Gatorade and eat bananas to replenish your electrolytes which can become off balance during bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, which then makes us weak, dizzy and fatiqued.  Make an appt. to see another GI.  What I did with my son is I called the AMA and asked for the best in this field in our city, and we got him, and finally a correct diagnosis.  If doctors don't know the answer, some's ego's won't allow them to ask for help and YOU suffer for this.  I was told this by a well reknowned doctor at the Cleveland Clinic.  We trusted that if my son's doctors didn't know what was wrong they would find out by asking other doctors, etc., they don't.  You have to be your own advocate and keep seeing other GI's until one can give you an answer.  Pain is a symptom, as well as bleeding.  But your GI hasn't even mentioned hemorrhoids, so it may not be hemorrhoids, and he just doesn't know.  I've been thru this, trust me, you need to find a new doctor.  I wish you all the best and take care.  Take care.
